Watch Red Snapper live

From Woodbridge Festival 2020

At 7pm BST On Sunday 11 October we broadcasted the premiere of our show with Red Snapper at our Woodbridge Live From The Riverside monthly residency.

After Red Snapper’s hour-long set, which was filmed in front of a live audience in September 2020, we also broadcasted the UK premiere of hyper-talented Czech act, Noisy Pots, one of the European acts who were unable to join us in person this year.

You can watch the broadcasts here and we thank our partners MSF, Noise of Art, The Social in London and the Move Association and Cross Club in Prague for linking in.

Red Snapper will be releasing long awaited new material this year. Their track Truth (currently getting airtime on BBC Radio 6 Music) is the first of three new singles, while an album is set for release in 2021.

Best known for their unique and dramatic sound, and passionate live performances, Red Snapper embrace dark funk, hip-hop, dub, psychedelic surf and afro-jazz.

Their track Spikey has been featured in El Camino, the recently released Netflix Breaking Bad film as directed by Vince Gilligan.

Originally formed in 1994, Red Snapper have toured globally, including supporting such acts such as Massive Attack, Bjork, The Prodigy, De La Soul and The Fugees.

The duo has a reputation for innovative and expansive remixes – reworking tunes by Trouble Funk, Garbage, Lamb and Edwyn Collins, among others.

The band's co-founder Ali Friend said: "Red Snapper have been knocked considerably by the stranglehold the COVID outbreak has taken on all live outings, so it’s with immense gratitude we're accepted an offer to play at the Woodbridge Festival in Suffolk, our first live show for many months and a place we enjoyed playing a few years ago. We look forward to playing new material from our forthcoming album, and being part of this innovative festival."

The show in Woodbridge saw the band perform a one-off collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Tim Hutton, whose credits include work with acts such as Afrika Bambaataa, Groove Armada, Bat For Lashes, Plaid, Amy Winehouse, Professor Green, Mike Skinner and many more.
