Plus Q&A: “From Acid House to Ambient” with Richard, Chris and Ben
On Monday 28 February Woodbridge Festival Art and Music begins its tenth anniversary celebrations with Richard Norris and Innerstrings playing The Riverside, fresh from their show at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London.
The night will feature an “Acid House to Ambient” Q&A between Richard Norris, Ibiza and Robbie Williams tour DJ Chris Coco and Noise of Art’s Ben Osborne. The Q&A will cover their careers as producers, working with some of the biggest names and coolest underground icons in music, amusing anecdotes and topics such as the connection between health and music.
The Q&A will be followed by Live music and visuals and DJ sets in the town’s much loved 107 year old cinema.
Half of chart topping act The Grid, with Dave Ball of Soft Cell, Richard Norris will play Woodbridge on the second night of his live national tour with audio visual artists Innerstrings.
While he was with the Grid, Richard scored six Top 40 UK Singles hits, including the million-selling Swamp Thing, which was Top 10 in ten countries. His other acts include cult psychedelic electro act Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve, with Erol Alkan, and Time and Space Machine, while his career has seen him work with artists Bryan Ferry (Roxy Music), Marc Almond, Joe Strummer, Pet Shop Boys and more.
More recently he’s released several successful ambient works on his Group Mind record label, and tonight will see him debut a new live Audio Visual show, as well as yet unheard, dancefloor music. He’s currently back in the studio with The Grid with rumours of new releases in 2022.
Chris Coco is an international DJ and producer, writer and radio presenter, who’s DJed every continent except Antarctica. He’s played every major club in Ibiza, and major festivals; including Glastonbury, Roskilde, Big Chill and Bestival. He was opening DJ for Robbie Williams' world tour and there are few DJs who have his breadth of musical knowledge and obsession with finding the perfect track.
Ben Osborne is described as a “polymath” by Time Out. He’s an award winning creative producer, and founder of Noise of Art (“an actual Cathedral of Sound” The Guardian) and DJs internationally at festivals and clubs, including Glastonbury, Sonar, Chateau Perché, MAMA Paris, Big Chill and Latitude. He’s also a journalist and author and has presented his own shows on Xfm, NME Radio and Slack City Radio. He’s pioneered such things as late night music in galleries in London, immersive film experiences, and silent music and electronic music events in clubs, festival and theatres.
We are grateful for the support of Sufolk County Council Covid Continuity Fund For Culture.
The nights will follow current pandemic guidelines.
